Transformation Week 3
Transformation is a process not an event.
—John P. Kotter
During the past two weeks, the focus was on present-moment awareness, noticing our habits and as Dr. Kotter states in his famous quote, the change we seek is not an overnight occurrence. True transformation happens over time. We don’t decide to be more mindful, sleep on it, and then wake up never worrying or rehashing the past. We take steps towards this process of transformation. When we can teach ourselves to come back to the present, we start to control our mind instead of our thoughts and mind controlling us.
You may be thinking what has this got to do with my goal? The answer is everything, once you start to recognize that the worry and the looking back are inhibiting your growth. Instead, we learn from those steps backward into our old patterns, to begin again, seeing another route is possible. Utilizing more flexibility in the process.
This week continues the practice of present-moment awareness since we know it is the cornerstone to possibilities. If you take a step back, notice and change the channel. Take a breath, take a mindful slow walk, stretch, or move the body to break the pattern. Then in a quiet moment notice what has become an obstacle in your transformation process.
