Accept

“Accept - then act. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. Always work with it, not against it.”

― Eckhart Tolle

Acceptance can get confused with passivity. In the practice of mindfulness, you learn to accept whatever the next moment brings. It does not mean we abandon our values or must tolerate injustices.

Ask yourself, "Why is this happening for me, not why is this happening to me?" When we stop fighting against the challenges, more opportunities appear for us. The fighting against what is happening, leads to tension in the body and stress and anxiety in the mind.

There is always another moment to practice acceptance.

Try it right now. Find a grounded position, seated, if possible, feet on the floor, hands on the lap facing down. Notice the body, notice the breath, notice the mind.
